As part of efforts to provide viable transport alternative to commuters in view of the june 1 proposed ban on okada from highways and certain areas in the state, the Lagos Ferry Services (LAGFERRY) has deployed more boats and increase daily operational trips at terminals/jetties located within the affected areas.
This was made known in a statement issued by the Head, public Affairs, LAGFERRY, Akeem Odusina.
Some of the terminals/jetties, according to the statement, includes the Badore terminal, Badore, Ipakodo terminal, Ikorodu, five cowries terminal, Ikoyi, CMS/Victoria Island terminal, Liverpool terminal, Apapa and Ilaje Bariga terminal, Bariga.
The statement noted that travelling by Water is 100% Traffic Free and there are First-Mile Last-Mile Buses available at the Terminal/Jetty Parks to take passengers to their final destination.
While assuring the commuting public of safe, fast, reliable and convenient experience on the waterways the statement informed that the terminals have secured ample car park spaces and LAGFERRY boats are state of the art built, equipped with modern technology like free wifi, onboard entertaiment and they are monitored in real time to ensure passengers safety.
The Statement further stated that all Passengers on every trips have insurance cover provided by consortium of reputable Insurance Companies led by LASACO and that the agency adhere strictly to all safety regulations including compulsory wearing of life jackets and operating within regulated hours.
The Lagos State Government had announced a june 1 proposed ban on okada from these local council development areas (LCDAs) of Yaba, Coker-Aguda, Itire-Ikate, Apapa-Iganmu, Ojodu, Onigbongbo, Lagos Island East, Lagos Island West, Eti-Osa East, Eti-Osa West, Iru-Victoria Island and Ikoyi-Obalende
