The Lagos State Government has said that enforcement and review of safety regulations, equipment, machinery and manufacturing places will continue unabated because safety and health of all residents is of paramount interest to the present administration in Lagos State.
The Director-General, Lagos State Safety Commission, Mr Lanre Mojola, said this on Thursday, during one day training on safe workplaces, equipment, machinery and practice in manufacturing companies in Alausa, Ikeja.
The workshop was organised by Lagos State Safety Commission in collaboration with Buggie Consult Limited.
Mojola, who was represented at the event by the Director, Legal Department of the agency, Mrs Aderonke Adekoje, maintained that the agency will continue to engage, educate and enforce safety regulations and strengthen them to ensure a zero accident, zero injury and zero fatality, thus ensuring that a safer Lagos is sustained at work place, equipment, machinery and practice in manufacturing companies throughout the state.
"We will keep spreading the message of safety and ensure all the employers and employees abide by all the safety standards, because it is only a safer Lagos that can guarantee the attainment of a greater Lagos", he said.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Director, Training Education Skills and Development Department, Mrs Esther George, welcome the participants and urged them to be attentive while listening to different facilitators who would be dealing with various safety rules and measures expected of individuals at their various workplaces.
In his presentation, Mr Oluwole Ojetokun, dwelt extensively on the importance of personal protective equipment as well as selection of such equipment in our workplaces and manufacturing companies.
Also in his remark, the Executive Director, Buggie Consult Limited, Mr. Iginla Olalekan, commended Lagos Safety Commission for living up to expectations as far as safety and protection of lives and properties of my the residents and people living in Lagos is concerned.
He implored participants to be attentive and listen to erudite instructors and further be educated on more appropriate actions to make the workplace safe and hazard-free and ensure a safer Lagos.
