The Baale of Odolagaye, in Ijebu-Ode local government of Ogun State, High Chief Ifakayode Adeleke Adetola, has warned prospective land buyers in the community to be wary of land grabbers selling lands to unsuspecting public.
According to the monarch, sometime in early 2022, some families within the community employed the services of a land agent, whom he described as landgrabbers, to be selling lands which belong to other families to prospective buyers.
The matter, he said has degenerated to rancour among various families as affected families are threatening showdown with the land grabbers for selling their lands without their consent.
The Baale said the matter is threatening the peace of the community and therefore warned anyone planning to buy land within the community to be wary of the land-grabbers.
He advised prospective land buyers to contact him for information concerning genuinity of any land they might want to buy as he is in the best position to confirm the authenticity of such land.
He said such buyers will be issued a receipt with government seal authenticating the legal purchase of such land in his domain.
He further said the community will no longer tolerate any action that could jeopardize the peaceful environment it has enjoyed and warned that families caught selling lands that do not belong to them to prospective buyers will be made to face the wrath of the law.
'I want to warn those buying lands from some families in the community to desist from doing so because some land-grabbers brought by these families have started selling lands that do not belong to them to unsuspecting buyers.
We'll no longer fold our hands and allow these land-grabbers to continue to cause mayhem in our community. Henceforth, anyone caught selling lands that does not belong to his family will be arrested and made to face the law,," he warned.
