The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has officially flagged off his official campaign for the Lagos state governorship election bidding for a second term in office at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.
The Governor said he is asking for a term and Lagosians votes in the 2023 general elections to leverage on his achievements in the last three and half years.
Speaking at the flag off of his campaign tagged, "A Greater Lagos Arising", which had his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, members and leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in attendance,
Governor Sanwoolu, thanked the people for showing their commitment, love, solidarity and supports saying it would not be taken for granted as his government was committed to further achieving its THEMES Agenda.
"Let me thank the good people of Lagos for your commitment, support and courage for our administrator in the past three and half years. I say thank you. Last week, we all gathered at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere to campaign for our incoming President,Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, today again, you are all here in large numbers to show your support and solidarity for your son, and our team. Once again, I say thank you", Sanwo-Olu said.
The Governor said despite the challenges in the past three years, tbe state had come out stronger as his administration had embarked on various developmental projects through its commitments in putting infrastructure in place in all the sectors which included health, education, Agriculture, technology among others.
"You can see every nook and cramming of the state have been turned to construction sites, from Ikeja to Victoria Island, Ajeromi Ifelodun, Ikorodu, Epe, Badagry. Also in education, we have greatly improved, we all knew what our WAEC results used to be but now, has improved consderately", he said
Earlier, the Lagos state APC's Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi appealed to Lagos residents to vote for Sanwo-Olu to enable him continue with the developmental projects he started in 2019, saying the party believe in his government to continue its laudable works to continue to serve the people of the state better.
In his opening remarks, the Director General of the APC's Gubernatorial Campaign Organization, Senator Ganiyu Solomon, thanked all present for finding time to witness the flag-off, adding that it is an honour to witness the flag-off the 2023 Lagos state Gubernatorial Campaign..
He said Governor Sanwo -Olu's administration is on the journey of progress and want all the residents and people of Lagos to follow the trend as more laudable achievement would be further recorded by the governor and his team.
