Lagos launched upgrade CitizensGate 2.0

The Lagos State Office of Civic Engagement has held a Press Conference to announced the soft launch of its upgraded  Citizens Gate two point zero, a citizen engagement platform, aimed at bringing governance closer to the people.

In her address at the briefing held at Bagauda Kaltho, Press Centre Alausa Secretariat, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagement, Aderemi Adebowale, said the

Citizens Gate two point zero App which is a one stop shop

was a conscious effort to establish, deepen and sustain an all-inclusive mode of engagement and communication with various stakeholders in the state and strength interaction between the people and the government while participating in dialogue.

She also stated that the implementation of the more robust  platform in all Ministries, Agencies and Departments, MDAs, in Lagos State was a crucial step towards promoting a more interactive, transparency, accountability and citizen engagement in government.

The Special Adviser also said it was expected that, over time, active and ongoing usage of the citizens’ gate two point zero handled by 

Resolvers from various MDAs would make it easier for citizens to participate in dialogue and decision-making processes alongside the state government.

She commended the Lagos State government for blazing the trail in bringing governance to the people via mobile phones and the internet through the deployment of the more robust platform, a web and app-based  e-governance channel  that enables access to and delivery of public goods.

Commissioner for Science and Technology, Hakeem Fahm, said the state through the platform would continue to leverage on technology to bringing governance closer to the people, enhance feedback mechanism, transparency as well as real-time interface while thanking the office for getting the citizens involved.

Also Speaking, Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotoso, and Special  Adviser to the Governor on Work and Infrastructure, Aramide Adeyoye, said the platform is a useful tool and would ensure a participatory governance while keeping Lagosians involved in a scientific way saying it is a very worthy process in bridging the gap  communication is not complete unless there was a feedback.
