Amidst Nationwide Protest: Lagos Speaker, Agege Stakeholders engage Residents and Youths* - sue for peace and calmness in Agege amidst monumental development.

Earlier today, 31st July,2024,the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, and other stakeholders in the Agege and Orile Agege engaged the people and Youth of Local Government to sue for peace and harmony amidst the anticipated protest by some agitated interest groups in the Country.

The Speaker, emphasized the need to remain calm and painstaking in approach, because it can be seen if critically observed that the present administration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Federal and State level are working tirelessly to bring relieve and succour to the masses in this period of economic downturn.

He particularly stated the effect democracy has had on Agege and its people, in terms of physical, Infrastructural and material development, which are evidently visible all around the city.

He appealed to parents to warn their Children to stay off any violent activity that may trigger or incite disruption of business and economic life of people and properties in any guise, which may be detrimental to the society at large.

The 10-day protest is expected to commence on Thursday, August 1, 2024, but Dr. Obasa said Agege is a special part of Lagos where residents have experienced democratic dividends, especially in the area of infrastructure which has boosted businesses.

Other notable leaders reiterated the need for the residents to protect government infrastructure adding that this can be done with their non-participation in the protest and the need to take full possession of the assets from intruders who are hell bent to wreck havoc for posterity sake.

They emphasized the need for peace and unity, which will continue to entrench development and progress,recalling the affects of war in war thorn countries, recalling the effect of the last EndSARS protest,which caused the lose of properties worth millions and lives, resulting from the violent protest
