Disability: Foundation carpets government on shortage of schools for people living with disability

A non-governmental organization, Kehinde Oshilaja Foundation has called on government to assist in the provision of more affordable schools for people living with disabilities, which would make them at pal with others 

The statement was made at the weekend by the Coordinator, Kehinde Oshilaja Foundation for people living with disability during their annual sustainability fund for the aged lecture and fundraising, when he  said the exorbitant fees collected by the few  available schools made it difficult for members that couldn't afford it misses the opportunity of getting education as others, a feat that make them getting little or no education. 

He therefore appealed that government should assist build more schools that could accommodate more members living with disability.

He also decried the way and manners people look at those People living with disability,  emphasised that even whenever any of the kings and well-to-do in the public invite them, they do not honor people living with disability. 

"Let me single handedly acknowledged a renowned Muslim Cleric and Preacher, Hon Abdulateef Abdulakeem, for his humility and respect for people living with disability, because I can tell you that anytime  our foundation invited this man, he always honour people living with disability, even with a tangible and bogus donation, infact, people should emulate him", Oshilaja said. 

Responding, the Honourable Commissioner for Basic Education, Mr    Jamiu Alli-Balogun, who was ably represented by  Mr. Azeez Aliu, maintained that Lagos State has been very consistent in catering for the needs of people living with disability, even said an agency, Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs, LASODA, was established for them and even added that a lot of schools was established for them too.

He also assured that the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu, remain committed to improving life of people living with disability.
