Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu, Obasanjo, Others set for Yoruba National Day, Eda Onileola @ 85, Monday, in UI

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is to lead the Southwest Governors as their Chairman to this year's Yoruba National Day lecture holding on Monday, 23 September, 2024, at 11am, in honour of a leading figure in movie Industry, Chief Lere Paimo, MFR, alias Eda Onile - Ola @ 85 in University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The Yoruba National Day celebration will hold at the newly renovated Wole Soyinka Theatre, formerly Arts Theatre, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State.

A statement by the President-General, Grand Council of Yoruba Youths, Comrade Awa Bamiji, said this year’s event would be used to celebrate the 85th birthday of a core progressive, elderstateman and veteran actor, Chief Lere Paimo, a.k.a Eda Onile-Ola.

A lecture, titled: ‘National Unity and Agitation for Self- Determination: The way forward for Nigeria?’  would be delivered by  Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who doubles as Chairman, Southwest Governors' Forum, while Discussant is Senator Yemi Adaramodu, the Senate mouthpiece

The Chairman of the event is a renowed June 12 Activist Archbishop Ayo Ladigbolu, Leader, Yoruba Unity Forum (South), while another prominent June 12 Activist, Senator Shehu Sani (North) would co - chair this Yoruba Youth Leadership Summit, 12 Edition since October 2001 inauguration of Agbarijo Egbe Odo Yoruba, Grand Council of Yoruba Youths.

The Special Guests of Honour are President Bola Tinubu (GCFR), and First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, while Guests of Honour are past and present South West governors and their Deputies.

The Special Guests are Southwest Senators, their House of Representatives' Coallegues and Honourable Speakers of the Southwest Houses of Assembly.

The Fathers of the day are past and present leaders of Afenifere, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, High Chief Tokunbo Adekunle Ajasin, Senator Bayo Abraham Adesanya, Arc Muyiwa Bola Ige, Mr Adewale Thompson, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, Honourable 'Folabi Ayo - Fasanmi, Chief Adebisi Akande, Mr Abimbola Biyi - Durojaiye, Chief Afe Babalola, SAN, Prince 

Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi, General Alani Akinrinade (Rtd), Dr Kunle Olajide and Honourable Wale Osun.  

The Mothers of the day are the present Leaders of Afenifere (Women), Ambassador (Dr) Tokunbo Awolowo - Dosumu, Dr Abimbola Samuel Ladoke Akintola, Chief (Mrs) Florence Ajimobi, Prof (Mrs) Bolanle Awe, Hon (Mrs) Emmanuel Alayande, Comrade (Mrs) Kehinde Ola - Oni, Queen (Mrs) Taiwo Adesida and Chief (Mrs) Rita Lori Ogbebor.

Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, Ooni of Ife; Oba Sikiru Adetona Ogbagba II, Awujale of Ijebuland; Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, Olubadan of Ibadanland; Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi Telu I, Oluwo of Iwo; Oba Ghandi Olaoye, Orumogege III, Soun of Ogbomoso; Oba Rilwan Akiolu I, Oba of Lagos; and Oba Francis Olushola Alao, Olugbon of Orile Igbon are Royal Fathers of the day.

The Spiritual fathers of the day include Araba Ifayemi Elebuibon, Prof Sabitu Olagoke (JP) and Apostle (Dr) S.M.O Mustapha, JP, (Babasebioba).

The Bosom Friends of Yoruba and notable Leaders from other major ethnic Nationalities, most especially, Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and Ohaneze Ndigbo are equally expected to celebrate with us as usual

According to Awa, the beautifully carved Ori Olokun Odu’a Awards would also be bestowed on the following 22 prominent individuals
