The Chief of Staff to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, has charged Directors in the Office of the Chief of Staff to embrace effective leadership in managing their subordinates, emphasizing their pivotal role in driving workplace productivity and achieving organizational goals.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Annual Directors’ Retreat in Ikeja, Mr. Ayinde underscored the importance of fostering a collaborative and inspiring work environment.
He noted that as senior public servants, Directors play a crucial role in shaping workplace culture and ensuring optimal team performance.
He described the retreat’s theme, "The Role of Emotional Intelligence in Effective Leadership," as timely and relevant, given the complexities of modern workplace dynamics.
While stressing the significance of emotional intelligence in leadership, he stated, “This retreat will provide insights into the true essence of emotional intelligence, its impact on leadership styles, and how we can cultivate it to become more effective leaders.”
Mr. Ayinde reiterated the Lagos State Government’s commitment to continuous capacity development, improving workforce welfare, and fostering an enabling environment for public servants to thrive.
He urged participants to take full advantage of the retreat by engaging in meaningful discussions and developing innovative solutions to enhance service delivery.
In his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary; Office of the Chief of Staff, Mr. Semiu Kadri, encouraged participants to actively engage in thought-provoking discussions, share experiences and leverage networking opportunities to improve collaboration and efficiency.
The retreat which is being organised in batches cut across cadre and grade levels including Junior Officers (Grade Level 1-6), Senior and Middle-Level Officers (Grade Level 7-14), and Directors level (Grade Level 15-17)
