Sanwo-Olu has revolutionized tertiary education Lagos State

The Lagos State Ministry of Tertiary Education has made significant achievements in revolutionising tertiary education in Lagos State. 

This was made known by the Honourable Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Mr. Tolani Sule, at a ministerial press briefing to mark the second year of the second term in office of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja. 

According to him, the ministry has implemented bold reforms, invested in state-of-the-art infrastructure, enhanced digital training for students and graduates, and fostered innovative partnerships with critical stakeholders to prepare the graduates of the state–owned tertiary institutions for the global world.

Sule said that the ministry has undergone a comprehensive transformation, expanding from three to six core technical departments and adding new units for streamlined administration, and further assured the members of the public of its commitment to excellence. 

"Our Ministry remains dedicated to delivering high-quality education, empowering students, and contributing to the state's economic development", he said.

The commissioner said the ministry has embarked on key initiatives such as Job Initiative Lagos (JIL) to empower over 8,000 students with digital literacy, entrepreneurial skills, and job application techniques. Eko Digital Initiative to provide free digital literacy training to over 5,000 youths in areas like digital marketing, coding, and data analysis; partnership and collaboration with International digital training consultancies and organisations to provide advanced digital skills training for students in the state tertiary institutions; and their participation in the European Union Students Fair with a view for collaboration and exchange programs to promote quality education. This is a testament to the Lagos State Government's dedication to providing students with access to quality education, both locally and internationally, to enhance the quality of graduates and prepare them for a globalised world.

According to him, the Lagos state government has initiated a process of transmuting the Lagos State College of Medicine (LASUCOM) into a stand-alone University of Medical and Health Sciences (UMHC) to be able to produce a better quality and higher number of medical and allied personnel and improve the health care delivery system in the state in line with the best global standards.

 He assured the good people of the state of the Lagos state government's commitment to creating a skilled and competitive workforce that can contribute to socio-economic and technological development, growth, and innovation in the state and Nigeria in general.

Sule said at the ministerial press briefing that the Ministry's achievements are a testament to an unwavering commitment to excellence and will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that the state-owned tertiary students and graduates receive the best possible education and skills training, positioning them for success in their chosen fields.
